We are all complex human beings with a lot of nuanced differences in the way we think, feel, and experience the worlds around and within us. Cultivating awareness about what goes on in your mind, heart, body, and soul can help you feel better on a daily basis, and be a more grounded caretaker.
When you’re more in tune with yourself, you’ll be more able to tune into others’ needs, feelings, and experiences. Whether that’s your children, students, clients, or employees, the more deeply you connect with yourself, the better you can support them.
-
Mindfulness creates an opportunity to slow down, to transform reactions to responses, and to experience more peace and beauty even in “normal” moments. It also literally changes your brain and nervous system so that you can feel calmer, make better decisions, and communicate effectively.
-
You might not think that self-compassion makes you a better parent, teacher, helper, or business leader, but it absolutely does! The way you treat yourself has a major impact on the way you treat others, and on your capacity to help them. Learning to practice kindness with yourself prevents compassion burnout.
-
Understanding how the state of your nervous system influences those who depend on you for care provides insight into the importance of self-care, and opens new doors to elevating your personal wellbeing and positive impact.

Faryn Sand, MA
I’m an emotional wellness coach with a master’s degree in Clinical Mind-Body Psychology from Columbia University. I’m also a certified Reiki practitioner and longtime mindfulness practitioner.
I am very passionate about helping parents, educators, caretakers, and leaders elevate their own wellbeing and the positive impact they have on others through the cultivation of inner life awareness, self-compassion, and holistic tools for healing. I also work with children and teens as a social-emotional-ethical learning mentor.
How it works
Faryn uses an intuitive and trauma-informed approach to help you to change your internal narrative, tap into your innate leader, shift generational patterns, and forge stronger connections with those in your care.
You’ll explore new perspectives that will elevate your personal wellbeing and positive impact.

It’s hard to make a blanket statement about this distinction because there are many different kinds of therapy and coaching. Therapy often involves deeply exploring your past to heal and move forward.
My coaching might touch on themes of how your past experience can inform your present, though we will more so focus on perspectives and practices specific to self-compassion building, and caretaker wellbeing and impact. I use a framework that includes education, dialogue, perspective-taking, and mind-body practices. There’s still a lot of flexibility within that framework, and your sessions will be tailored to your unique needs and goals.
It’s important to note that while I have an MA in Clinical Psychology, I am not a licensed psychotherapist and therefore, I do not practice psychotherapy or diagnose/treat mental health conditions. However, I am happy to work alongside other licensed practitioners to provide you with additional support!

You don’t! (Not a great pitch, huh?)
I’m a firm believer in never promoting anything based on the premise that you need it in order to be okay. That’s scare tactic marketing, and it’s not what I’m about. You are wonderful exactly as you are.
But if you find yourself feeling the need for more support as a parent, educator, caretaker, or business leader—wishing you felt more peace on a daily basis, aiming for calmer and more effective communication, and wanting to forge much deeper and stronger connections with the people you take care of—then I’m here for you.

Private coaching sessions are virtual via Zoom and can take place anywhere in the United States. Each session is 50 minutes long.
You can choose a 4, 8, or 12-session series, and we’ll meet either weekly or biweekly (your choice!). Meeting consistently helps us create a stronger connection and more motivation for you to keep moving forward.
To explore how I can support you and to see if we’re a good match, you can send me a message to schedule a free consultation where you’ll learn more about my approach and have an opportunity to ask any questions you might have.

I’ve been a caretaker in many capacities throughout my life—step-parent, teacher, caregiver, coach, pet parent (x3), among others—and I know how difficult and taxing that role can be, especially when we ourselves don’t have all the care that we need.
I’ve also seen firsthand what it’s like on the other side, when the people taking care of you (parents, helping and medical professionals, business leaders, etc.) lack the support that they need to move out of survival mode and into a more conscious way of connecting. It strongly impacts everyone around them.
Caretakers in our society have large circles of impact that ripple outward, so their level of wellbeing affects so many people.
When caretakers are supported to create safety and wellbeing for themselves, only then can they create that kind of space for others.
